About

OPERAS-PL is a new initiative led by the Digital Humanities Centre at IBL PAN (Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences), a national node of OPERAS. Our goal is to foster and improve open scholarly communication in social sciences and humanities (SSH) in Poland.

We are an Executive Board member of OPERAS – a European consortium with almost 60 members from 17 countries. As a research infrastructure recently added to the ESFRI roadmap, OPERAS supports open scholarly communication in SSH in the European research area. In response to the needs of the SSH community – researchers, librarians, publishers and funders – we create dedicated tools and services, such as the GoTriple platform for discovery or Certification, aimed at quality assurance of Open Access publishing.

On the OPERAS consortium level, IBL PAN coordinates the OPERAS Innovation Lab. We identify users’ needs and develop prototypes of tools and services for better communication in the SSH community.

OPERAS-PL team mission is to bring together various groups within the Polish SSH community: researchers, academic institutions, publishers, librarians and policy makers, in order to implement new ideas, solutions, tools and workflows into scholarly communication in Poland. We help in opening up SSH outputs produced by Polish scholars as well as making them more accessible and visible to both national and international audiences. In the next few years we will create a knowledge hub focusing on e-infrastructures, publishing tools and business models for the SSH.
